Overview
The Lijiang area and the road to Shangri La make an idea place to learn, or fine-tune your photography skills. A unique and vibrant culture being played out in a marvellous landscape. Alister is available for one to one tuition or for small groups (up to 4 people).
Alister has extensive knowledge about many aspects of photography, with some suggested topics listed below. Time can be allocated any way you want, with half in the field followed by half on the computer allowing for the full process to be explained and practiced in even a single half-day session.
While half a day is suitable to fine-tune existing skills or pick up a new concept, a full day, comprising of 2 x 4 hour sessions allows for a lot more detail and opens up the Jade Dragon National Park as a location.

In the Classroom
I do not teach a 5 minute workflow, as all images should be treated as individuals, but there are some fundamental “fixes” that will make most images appear significantly better in a short period of time.

Locations
Anywhere in the Lijiang area can be accessed in a full day – the old town, surrounding villages, the Snow Mountain National Park or Shiguzhen and the Yangtze River.
Again, travelling time is not included in Tuition time.
The classroom sessions are conducted in my home office in Lijiang. I can demonstrate techniques on my own 27″ iMac in a comfortable, roomy environment.
Cost
Personal Tuition is available in 4-hour sessions – with 2 x 4-hour session making up a full day. If it takes us half an hour to get to a location to shoot, and another half hour back to my office, this time is not part of the 4 hour session. Equally, if we are in full flow, I am not going to be watching the clock either. I am determined to give you great value for the time we are together.
2 x 4 Hour Session
US$800* = 1 person
US$900* = 2 people ($450 each)
US$1050* = 3 people ($350 each)
US$1200* = 4 people ($300 each)
*local equivalent currency accepted based on the current exchange rate
To ensure sufficient attention to each person, I do not accept groups of more than 4 people.
A deposit of 30% of the total fee is required at the time of booking confirmation.
Due to my many commitments, full day sessions cannot be booked more than 2 weeks in advance.
