I love the energy of the coast, and in remote places where you can have the place to yourself on a wild day (or night) – it can be a really inspiring place, but I agree, mountains are simply magnificent. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Himalaya, and when you’re up there, in the thin air, it is a holistic, mind-altering experience.

Interesting and good read. I find the experience of being in the mountains more personal and inspires awe in a way coastal locations do not. However it is easier to photograph competent seascapes than mountain scenes IMO. This also means it’s more difficult to shoot coastal scenes that stand out.

I enjoyed your images this morning and your last paragraph: “It’s true, happiness is the road, and it only exists in the now – not the tomorrow, or the next week, or when I finish my next book or whatever. It’s right here, right now, with this precious breath entering my lungs fuelling my beating heart.” Thanks!
